FABRIC CARE

Fabric is precious. We've put together a few guidelines to help you care for your new purchase. We recommend pre-washing in the same way you intend to wash your future fabric creation including drying. Wash light and bright colors separately, as some colors may run in their first few washes. Please note, these care tips are guidelines only and variations will apply to some fabrics. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us.

Polyester
Polyester dresses are generally easy to care for. Machine wash them in cool or warm water on a gentle cycle with a mild detergent. Avoid high heat when washing and drying to prevent damage. Hang or lay flat to dry to minimize wrinkles.

Lyocell
Lyocell is a fabric that requires gentle care to maintain its softness and drape. To properly care for a Lyocell dress, wash it in cold water on a delicate cycle, avoid harsh detergents and bleach, and dry it flat or hang it to dry, avoiding direct sunlight. Ironing is generally not necessary, but if needed, use a low heat setting.

Sequin
Sequin dresses are best hand-washed or dry-cleaned. Avoid using a washing machine, as the agitation can cause the sequins to detach or damage the fabric. If the label says it can be machine-washed, turn it inside out, put it in a laundry bag and wash on a gentle, cold cycle with mild detergent. Alternatively, spot clean or give it a light hand wash. Sequin garments may not always need a wash, sometimes you can simply freshen them up with an airing.

- Dealing with Snags and Loose Sequins
If you notice a few loose sequins or snags, don't panic. There are simple solutions:
Use a needle and thread: Carefully reattach any loose sequins with a needle and thread that matches the dress's color.
Fabric glue: For smaller snags, you can use a clear fabric glue to secure the sequins.
Professional repair: For more extensive damage, consider taking the dress to a professional tailor or dry cleaner for repair.

Satin
Hand washing in cold water with a mild detergent is generally recommended. Avoid wringing or twisting the fabric, and dry it flat or hanging in the shade, away from direct sunlight. If machine washing is necessary, use a gentle cycle with cold water and a mesh laundry bag for protection. Ironing should be done on a low heat setting with a pressing cloth or using a steamer.

Cotton
Wash it in cold or warm water on a gentle cycle, and avoid high heat when drying to prevent shrinking. Turning the dress inside out before washing can help protect the fabric's surface. Air drying is ideal, but if using a machine, use low heat and remove promptly.

Knit
Knit garments are sensitive to heat and harsh chemicals. Wash it gently, either by hand or in a washing machine on a delicate cycle with cold water. Use a mild detergent and avoid harsh chemicals or bleach. When drying, lay it flat on a towel to absorb excess water and reshape, avoiding direct heat or sunlight.

Wool
Generally, wool garments should be washed in cool water (30°C or 86°F) using a gentle, wool-specific detergent. Machine washing is possible on a delicate or wool cycle, but hand washing is often recommended. Avoid wringing or twisting the dress, and dry it flat on a towel, away from direct sunlight and heat.

Velvet
To properly care for a velvet dress, prioritize gentle cleaning methods, avoid ironing, and store it carefully to maintain its luxurious texture. Hand washing or machine washing on a delicate cycle with cold water and a mild detergent is recommended, avoiding fabric softener. Steaming is preferable to ironing for wrinkle removal, and storing the dress on a padded hanger in a well-ventilated area is crucial.

Rayon
Rayon dresses require gentle care to maintain their softness and prevent shrinkage or damage. It's best to hand wash rayon in cold water with a mild detergent, or dry clean it if the care label recommends. Avoid using hot water or the dryer, and iron on a low setting with a pressing cloth to prevent scorching.
